A Time to reflect

Dear Parents,

It is the time of year to celebrate and reflect on all that we have achieved this year at CPS. They say time flies when you are having fun and this year has surely flown by, but it has certainly been a blast!

We were able to support 4 wonderful charities this year under our Children helping Children initiative. The Hout Bay Community Cook up, Rising Angels, Westlake School and DARG were most appreciative of your generosity and in turn our children learnt the importance of giving to those in need.

Our assemblies have been a source of delight for the children and staff. It is lovely to come together as a whole school and give each teacher an opportunity to lead an assembly and share a valuable message the children. Of course, the highlight of each assembly is singing happy birthday to the children who have celebrated their birthdays that month and acknowledging the children who receive a special certificate from their teacher for reaching a particular goal or doing something special or just been fabulous!

Our Fun Fridays continue to be a source of excitement, from baking to science experiments and more, there was always lots of fun to be had. I sometimes think the staff have more fun than the children, especially on the dress up days. But there certainly is a hub of excitement every Friday at our school.

Our Fun Walk and Fun Fair were undoubtedly the highlights for the year as we missed these wonderful family days for the past 2 half years due to Covid. It once again cemented for us what a wonderful family we are at CPS and as parents your involvement and support is paramount to the success of events such as these.

We were overjoyed to be able to do our Annual Xmas concerts again this year. To hear the children singing and see them jiving to the Xmas jingle was a joy to behold. I have no doubt that you were as proud of your little darling as were we. Our Graduation ceremony for the Star Group after their evening concert was a very special landmark in their young lives. Many of the children have been at CPS since they were 2 years old and we are immensely proud of the wonderful little beings they have become.

Of course, one of the children’s highlights each year is Father Xmas’ visit to school on break up day. He kindly left a little gift for each child and a ho ho as he exited the school, much to the delight of the children.

Our Yellow and Star group have achieved phenomenal results again this year in Memory blocks. This important learning tool ensures that we develop pre-literacy and numeracy skills while promoting school readiness skills such as concentration, comprehension and listening skills. We are proudly the only school to offer this wonderful extension to our curriculum and this will benefit your child immensely when they reach Grade 1 and are learning to read and write on a formal level.

Your child’s accomplishments need to be celebrated and acknowledged as they have had a very busy and successful year at school. We always look forward to reading each child’s end of year report and seeing the wonderful progress each of them have made. It is always so rewarding for the teachers to see just how each child has grown and developed in every aspect of their learning. The nurturing yet stimulating environment and constant love, guidance and input by the wonderful staff ensure that each child goes onto the next age group academically and emotionally ready to face new challenges.

We are so proud of our wonderful staff and the amazing work they have done this year to ensure that school remains a happy, secure and exciting environment for the children. CPS is certainly a very special place, and our dedicated staff are passionate about what they do.

We would like to extend our appreciation to each of you for supporting us through another wonderful year. May the holiday season ahead give you the opportunity to spend time with your family and enjoy this special time together. As a school we wish you a peaceful and joyous time and look forward to welcoming you back in 2023.

Warmest regards,

Mary and Lara
